A young man was hacked to death in the Rayerbazar area of Mohammadpur in the capital on early Thursday around 12:50am.
The incident took place at Sadeq Khan’s brickfield area near Beribadh area under Mohammadpur Police Station.
The deceased was identified as Asadul Haque, 28. He was the son of Jalil Sardar and Masuda Begum. His permanent address is Kalna under Gournadi upazila in Barishal. He lived in rented accommodation at Metro Housing of Mohammadpur.
Police said locals found his bloodstained body with injuries on the chest and back.
Later, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
Police suspect the killing took place over a previous enmity. The assailants remain unidentified.
Legal procedures are under process, police said.
