As awards season gathers pace, many film fans are rushing to catch up with the year’s Academy Awards contenders before the ceremony. From ambitious genre films to intimate character dramas, the nominated titles are now widely available across streaming platforms and digital rental services.

Among the most critically praised titles is ‘Sentimental Value’, which earned nine nominations. Directed by Joachim Trier, the story centres on a complicated family relationship and stars Stellan Skarsgård as a renowned filmmaker reconnecting with his past. The film will begin streaming on Hulu later this month.
Also receiving nine nominations is ‘Marty Supreme’, directed by Josh Safdie. The energetic drama follows the rise of an ambitious table tennis player and features a widely praised performance from Timothée Chalamet. The film is currently available through digital rental platforms.
Another major contender is ‘Frankenstein’, a visually rich interpretation of Mary Shelley’s classic tale. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the film stars Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, and is available on Netflix.
Historical drama ‘Hamnet’, with eight nominations, brings William Shakespeare’s family story to the screen. Directed by Chloé Zhao and starring Paul Mescal alongside Jessie Buckley, the film can be streamed on Peacock.
Other nominated titles available online include the dark satire ‘Bugonia’, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and the reflective frontier drama Train Dreams, starring Joel Edgerton, both of which can be streamed through major platforms.
Following the race is ‘F1’, directed by Joseph Kosinski, stars Brad Pitt as a former Formula One driver returning to the sport. The film is available on Apple TV.
International cinema also features prominently among the nominees. Brazilian thriller ‘The Secret Agent’, directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, is streaming on Hulu, while Iranian director Jafar Panahi’s thought provoking drama ‘It Was Just an Accident’ is also available on the platform.
Some nominees remain primarily in cinemas, including ‘Sirāt’, which follows a father and son searching for a missing daughter against the backdrop of a desert rave culture.
Other contenders include ‘Blue Moon’, featuring Ethan Hawke as lyricist Lorenz Hart, the animated musical adventure ‘KPop Demon Hunters’, the intense family drama ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ starring Rose Byrne, the mystery thriller ‘Weapons’ and the musical drama ‘Song Sung Blue’, which stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson.
