Bangladeshi-American DJ and producer Sanjoy will perform during the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening ceremony programme in Canada, FIFA and tournament organisers confirmed this week. Canada will stage its opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on 12 June.
Organisers released a list of performers for the Canadian event, which includes Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Michael Bublé, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Elyanna, Vegedream, William Prince and DJ Sanjoy. FIFA plans separate opening ceremonies across Canada, Mexico and the United States before the expanded 48-team tournament begins.
Sanjoy was born in Dhaka and grew up in the United States. He built his profile as a DJ, producer and electronic music artist. FIFA listed him as “DJ Sanjoy” in the official entertainment programme for the tournament ceremonies.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the Toronto ceremony would showcase Canada’s multicultural identity alongside the tournament’s wider North American theme. Organisers also plan fan activities, entertainment zones and prize events around the stadium before kick-off. Gates will open hours before the matchday programme starts.
Canada sit in Group B of the tournament and will open their campaign at BMO Field in Toronto. Mexico will launch the World Cup one day earlier with the tournament opener in Mexico City.
