Police have recovered the partially decomposed body of a young woman from a flat in Kazipara, Mirpur, and are searching for her husband who has been on the run since Saturday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Rabeya, who had married Ashikur Zaman Munna of Mirpur six months ago after they had fallen in love, her mother said.
The victim’s mother told police that her daughter’s phone had been switched off for five days. On Tuesday morning, she came to the flat and found the door locked from inside. She informed the police, who later arrived and recovered the body.
Officer-in-Charge of Kafrul Police Station Sazzad Hossain said preliminary investigation suggests Rabeya was murdered. He added that operations are ongoing to arrest her husband, Munna.
The building owner said Munna left the house on Saturday night, saying he was going to bring food. When contacted later about the rent, his phone had been switched off since then.
The crime scene unit has collected evidence from the spot. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
