Amazon MGM Studios has officially begun the search for the next James Bond.
According to Variety, the studio has spent the past few weeks auditioning actors for the iconic role, marking the first major step towards replacing Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming’s legendary spy.
The studio has enlisted acclaimed casting director Nina Gold to help find an actor capable of bringing the charm, sophistication and danger associated with Bond. In a statement, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the development, saying, “The search for the next James Bond is underway,” while adding that more details will be shared with fans in due course.
Gold’s involvement has already generated excitement in Hollywood. She is widely recognised for her work on the HBO series Game of Thrones and the Netflix series The Crown. Her résumé also includes several films from the ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ era, where she famously cast Daisy Ridley as Rey.
Other notable credits include ‘Les Misérables’, ‘The Martian’ and ‘Conclave’. In 2025, she received an Oscar nomination for casting Hamnet.
The Bond franchise has a long tradition of memorable casting choices. Veteran casting director Debbie McWilliams previously helped select actors such as Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig for the role.
The iconic spy has also been portrayed by Sean Connery, Roger Moore and George Lazenby.
The upcoming Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, known for Dune, Arrival and Sicario. Producers include Amy Pascal and David Heyman, while Steven Knight is writing the script. Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer.
Speculation over the next Bond has intensified in recent months, with actors including Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner and Aaron Taylor-Johnson frequently mentioned as possible contenders for the coveted role.
