Vin Diesel has sparked fresh excitement around the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise after hinting that football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo could make his acting debut in the series’ final film. The actor and producer suggested that a role has already been written for Ronaldo as part of the upcoming eleventh instalment.
Diesel shared the news on Instagram on Friday, posting a photograph of himself with the Portuguese forward, both giving a thumbs-up. In the caption, Diesel wrote that fans had long speculated about Ronaldo joining the Fast universe and added that the footballer is “a real one”, confirming that the team has written a role for him.
Fast & Furious 11 is expected to bring the long-running action franchise to a close. Earlier this year, Diesel revealed that the film is planned for release in April 2027, a date he agreed with Universal Studios after outlining several creative conditions. Speaking at Fuel Fest in June, he said the finale would return the story to Los Angeles, place renewed emphasis on car culture and street racing, and revisit the emotional core that defined the earlier films.
One of the key elements Diesel has promised is a reunion between Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner. The character of Brian was played by Paul Walker, who died in a car accident in November 2013 during the production of Fast & Furious 7. The filmmakers completed his final appearance using a combination of visual effects, archival footage and performances by Walker’s brothers, Cody and Caleb, who helped finish hundreds of shots.
The closing scene of Fast & Furious 7 showed Dom and Brian sharing a quiet farewell before driving off in separate directions, a moment that was widely praised for its sensitivity. Visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri later said the team approached the sequence with extreme care to honour Walker’s memory and ensure the storytelling felt seamless.
While Cristiano Ronaldo’s involvement has yet to be formally confirmed, Diesel’s comments have fuelled speculation and heightened anticipation for the franchise’s final chapter, which is expected to blend nostalgia, high-octane action and emotional closure for its central characters.
