Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed Martyred Intellectuals Day with due dignity and solemnity on Sunday.
The university organised a massive mourning rally followed by a wreath-laying ceremony to mark the occasion, according to a press release.
The rally began at the BUBT campus in the morning and was led by Treasurer and Honorable Vice Chancellor (Acting) Professor Dr Ali Ahmed and Registrar Dr Md. Harun-or-Rashid.
Deans, departmental chairpersons, distinguished faculty members, students, administrative officers, and staff of the university participated in the procession, which proceeded to the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard.
At the graveyard, floral wreaths were laid on behalf of the BUBT family. In a solemn atmosphere, participants paid deep homage to the martyred intellectuals, the brightest sons of the soil, who were brutally killed by Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators on 14 December 1971.
The university community remembered with respect and gratitude the sacrifices and contributions of these great sons of the nation in the Liberation War of 1971.
