Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Mohammad Abdul Momen said the verdict on six graft cases filed against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members may come by November.
“We hope that following the deposition witnesses, the verdicts will come in the beginning of November as per the courts decisions,” said Momen.
The chairman made the comment after a five-year memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing event between ACC and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) at the ACC’s office on Wednesday.
The ACC and TIB have signed the MoU to further accelerate and strengthen anti-corruption initiatives. ACC Director General Akhter Hossain and TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Brig Gen (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid, Secretary Khaled Rahim, along with senior officials from both ACC and TIB, were present at the signing ceremony.
These organisations will undertake initiatives on creating public awareness, systemic improvement and promotion of integrity to prevent corruption in the country. The programmes include cooperation in advocacy, public engagement, campaigns, research, training, and other activities.
ACC and TIB signed their first MoU on 25 May 2015 for two years. In continuation of this collaboration, the fifth phase of the MoU has now been signed for a five-year period, effective from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2030.
