US Vice President JD Vance is expected to arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday, sources close to the mediation told Al Jazeera.
He is likely to depart Washington, DC on Tuesday evening, Pakistan time, and reach the Pakistani capital by late morning or early afternoon the following day, reports Al Jazeera.
Vance will lead the US delegation in a second round of talks with Iran, with negotiations tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.
Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also expected to travel to Pakistan, maintaining the same level of representation as in the first round.
Several US military aircraft have already landed in Pakistan ahead of the anticipated discussions.
However, uncertainty remains over Iran’s participation. The country’s parliament speaker and head of its negotiating team, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said on Tuesday that Tehran “does not accept negotiations under the shadow of threats”, raising doubts about whether the second round will proceed as planned.
