US-Bangla Airlines, a leading private carrier in Bangladesh, has completed twelve years of successful operations and entered its 13th year on 17 July 2026.
To mark this 12th anniversary, the airline extended its warmest greetings and congratulations to all its well-wishers. The carrier’s journey began on July 17, 2014, with its maiden flight on the Dhaka-Jashore route using Dash 8-Q400 aircraft, read a press release.
Since its inception, US-Bangla has maintained a distinguished record of operating more than 90 per cent of its flights on time. Its current fleet has grown to 25 aircraft, which includes three Airbus 330-300s and nine Boeing 737-800s.
In the domestic sector, the airline operates flights from Dhaka to Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet, Saidpur, and Rajshahi. Its international expansion commenced on May 15, 2016, with the Dhaka-Kathmandu route.
Today, its international network spans Kolkata, Chennai, Male, Muscat, Doha, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, and Guangzhou. US-Bangla is set to further strengthen its fleet by adding several Boeing 737-8 and Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
The carrier has outlined an ambitious roadmap to reach Dammam, Medina, Bahrain, Kuwait, Kathmandu, Colombo, Johur bahru and Penang in Malaysia, and Hong Kong by 2027.
It plans to launch flights to European destinations, including London and Rome, by 2028, and long-haul routes to New York, Toronto, and Sydney by 2030.
Recognised for its excellence, US-Bangla was recently named the Best Domestic Airline in 2025, an accolade it also achieved in 2015, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
The airline has earned passenger trust through a unique precedent in service and currently employs approximately 4,000 officers and employees at home and abroad, contributing significantly to solving the country’s unemployment problem.
Beyond supporting the national economy by paying regular taxes and surcharges, its international operations bolster the country’s reputation and earn vital foreign currency.
To facilitate ticket purchases, the airline provides a website and mobile app, alongside more than 40 sales offices globally and partnerships with thousands of travel agencies. It also offers the “Skystar” programme for frequent flyers.
Notably, US-Bangla was the first domestic airline post-independence to operate direct flights to destinations in China, as well as to Chennai and Male.
A standout service is its commitment to baggage delivery within 15 minutes of landing on international flights, operating under the motto: “You don’t wait for your luggage; your luggage will wait for you”.
In addition to passenger transport, the airline is active in cargo shipping and has been directly involved in supporting various educational, social, cultural, and sporting institutions since its inception.
Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun, Managing Director of US-Bangla Airlines, stated on the anniversary that the carrier is ready for any competitive challenge and is constantly adding new aircraft to ensure comfortable service.
He expressed that the US-Bangla family is proud to be involved in the nation’s economic progress. He also extended his gratitude to the government, private organisations, travel agents, civil aviation authorities, and journalists for their twelve years of support.
