US‑Bangla Airlines has announced plans to add 21 Boeing aircrafts to its fleet by 2027, backed by an investment of nearly Tk19,000 crore. The announcement came Wednesday morning at a programme in Dhaka.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat attended as chief guest, along with Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Siddik, Boeing Vice President Paul Righi, and other industry representatives. The event, themed “Beyond with Boeing”, was held at a city hotel.
Managing Director Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun said the new aircraft will significantly boost the capacity of domestic airlines on international routes and help retain a large share of foreign currency within the country.
CAAB Chairman Siddik said that the investment will not only benefit US‑Bangla but also strengthen Bangladesh’s aviation sector and create new jobs.
State Minister Millat noted that the government is working on a master plan for the aviation sector, which includes establishing a pilot training academy in Bogura.
He added once the third terminal opens, the country’s air travel capacity will reach about 25 million passengers annually, and US‑Bangla’s expanded fleet will make travel easier.
Prioritising the needs of expatriate Bangladeshis, the airline also plans to launch flights by 2027 to several international destinations, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Madinah, Dammam, and Colombo.
