Upay, the mobile financial service (MFS) of UCB Fintech Company Limited, has signed a partnership agreement with UCSI University Bangladesh Campus to transform the institution into a modern, cashless smart campus.
The agreement, aimed at expanding digital payment services within the higher education sector, was signed at a ceremony held recently at Banani Club in Dhaka.
Ariful Bari Majumder, chairman and managing director of UCSI University Bangladesh, and Shyamal B Das, managing director and chief executive officer of Upay, signed the document on behalf of their respective organisations, read a press release.
Under this partnership, Upay will introduce a QR-based merchant payment system across the university.
This will enable students to make fast and secure cashless payments at the campus cafeteria, bookstore, retail outlets, and other authorised merchants. Additionally, the platform will allow students to pay their tuition fees and receive scholarship payments directly through Upay.
As part of the digital initiative, the two organisations also plan to introduce RFID-enabled smart student ID cards. These cards are designed to simplify student identification while making access to campus services more efficient, secure, and convenient.
Senior officials from both UCSI University Bangladesh and Upay – a subsidiary of United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) – were present at the signing event.
