The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) and Ibn Sina Trust have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide affordable healthcare services to entrepreneurs, officials, employees and their families linked to the housing sector.
The agreement was signed at REHAB’s head office in Dhaka on Thursday. REHAB President Dr Ali Afzal and Ibn Sina Trust Executive Director Mohammad Foyez Ullah signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Under the two-year agreement, REHAB members, employees of member companies, REHAB Secretariat staff and their legally dependent family members will receive a 35 per cent discount on healthcare services at Ibn Sina hospitals, diagnostic centres and related units across the country, said in a press release.
The discounted services will include pathological tests, PCR tests, specialised laboratory tests and most radiology and imaging services. Beneficiaries will also have access to comprehensive health check-up and cardiac health check-up packages at special rates.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, REHAB President Dr Ali Afzal said a healthy workforce was a key foundation of a strong economy.
“Around two crore people are directly and indirectly involved with the housing industry. Ensuring improved and affordable healthcare services for them will enhance productivity and strengthen social security. This MoU is an important step towards achieving that goal,” he said.
Afzal added that REHAB would continue such initiatives for the welfare of its members and stakeholders.
Ibn Sina Trust Executive Director Mohammad Foyez Ullah said the organisation’s objective was to make quality healthcare services available to people at affordable costs.
“Through this agreement with REHAB, we have created an opportunity to ensure advanced healthcare services for a large population associated with the housing sector. Preventive healthcare and regular health check-ups play an important role in ensuring a healthy life,” he said.
The MoU will remain effective for two years and can be renewed based on mutual consent between the two organisations.
REHAB Senior Vice-President Abdur Razzak, Vice-President (Finance) Dr Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, Ibn Sina Trust Additional Director (Accounts and Finance) Golam Mortuza Masud, DGM (Administration) Mohammad Zahidur Rahman, AGM and Head of Business Development Niaz Makhdum Shibli, Regional In-charge (Corporate Business Development) Mohammad Masud and senior officials from both organisations attended the event.
Both organisations described the partnership as a significant step towards expanding healthcare access and corporate welfare initiatives. They expressed hope that the agreement would make quality medical services more accessible and affordable for people involved in the housing sector and their families.
