United Insurance Company reported a 44.6 per cent increase in second-quarter profit as stronger underwriting performance lifted earnings, while its shares climbed to the daily price limit on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.
The non-life insurer said earnings per share rose to Tk1.75 for the April-June quarter of 2026 from Tk1.21 a year earlier.
For the first six months of the year, earnings per share increased to Tk1.99 from Tk1.66 in the corresponding period of 2025, reflecting a year-on-year growth of nearly 20 per cent.
Net operating cash flow per share more than tripled to Tk2.92 during the January-June period from Tk0.93 a year earlier, supported by higher premium collections.
Net asset value per share stood at Tk34.76 as of June 30, compared with Tk31.04 at the end of December 2025.
The company said higher underwriting profit drove the improvement in earnings. It attributed the increase in net asset value to a gain in the fair value of its investment in United Finance PLC, while stronger premium collections supported operating cash flow.
Investors responded positively to the earnings announcement, sending the stock up 9.81 per cent to Tk52.60 on Sunday, the maximum daily gain allowed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.
