Ulkasemi has completed 19 years of operations, crossing 1,000 successful tapouts and expanding its workforce to more than 600 engineers as it strengthens Bangladesh’s position in semiconductor design, the company said on Wednesday.
The milestone was announced during anniversary events held at its Dhaka design centres at Rahman’s Regnum Center and Trade Intercontinental Centre.
Ulkasemi CEO and President Mohammad Enayetur Rahman inaugurated the programmes.
“The world is reshuffling its supply chains. They are looking for a ‘Plus One’ destination. The window is open, but as we know from the semiconductor industry, windows close in nanoseconds,” said Ulkasemi CEO and President Mohammad Enayetur Rahman.
Founded in 2007, Ulkasemi said it now supports semiconductor design across advanced nodes ranging from 180 nanometre to 1.4 nanometre technologies.
The company’s engineers are currently working on chips for artificial intelligence-assisted high-end central processing units and graphics processing units, mobile and Internet of Things applications, data and cloud servers, networking equipment, routers, switches and medical devices.
Ulkasemi is one of 32 global partners of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Design Center Alliance, a collaboration platform for semiconductor design firms.
Ulkasemi Chairperson Arifa Chowdhury Rahman, Vice President of Engineering and directors were present at the events along with employees.
The company said it plans to continue investing in engineering capacity and talent development to expand Bangladesh’s presence in the global semiconductor value chain.
