The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) held its Faculty Retreat 2026 at CCULB Resort on 21–22 August, bringing faculty members together to reflect on the university’s journey and chart its future direction, with an address by Kazi Anis Ahmed, PhD, President of the Board of Trustees, on ULAB’s founding vision and values.
A key focus of the retreat was ULAB’s strategic direction and its ambition to become a future-ready university, with capability development as its signature pedagogy, as subcommittees presented recommendations drawn from two months of collective work that will feed into the university’s draft strategy and future implementation initiatives, organisers said in a press release.
Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, emphasised collective vision, capability development, academic excellence and institutional innovation as key priorities, noting that the Directorate of Academic Affairs, Office of Faculty Research and Centre for Teaching and Learning would work together to strengthen the university’s teaching and research ecosystem.
A cultural evening showcased faculty talents through poetry, music, drama, recitation and creative performances, with the combined GED and CLS team declared the winner. Outstanding participants were recognised through the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards and honourable mentions.
Also present were Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, PhD, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees and Treasurer; Lt Col Md Foyzul Islam (Retd), Registrar; and deans, heads of departments and senior officials. The retreat highlighted upcoming HR and academic policy reforms, research rewards, internationalisation, the new ULAB website, VR campus mapping and the AI-based EduSight system, concluding with renewed optimism and a shared commitment to building a future-ready ULAB through the collective talent and goodwill of its people.
