Dibyani Das Mitali is from Sylhet and works as a singer. Popular among listeners of her generation, the singer regularly performs at stage shows in different parts of the country. Besides Sylhet, she also performs at stage shows in Dhaka and various areas around the capital.
However, Mitali is set to perform in Chattogram for the first time. On the night of August 27, she will perform at an event organised by a social welfare organisation in Agrabad, Chattogram. Mitali will be accompanied by her own musicians at the event. Her mother, Chhaya Das, will also be with her.
Speaking about performing in Chattogram for the first time, Mitali Das said, “Earlier, I went to Khagrachari and Fatikchari for stage shows. But I had never been to Chattogram. This time, I am going to perform on the soil of Chattogram for the first time. My mother, Chhaya Das, will accompany me, along with my musicians. I hope the Chattogram show will be very good. I will try to perform songs that appeal to the organisers and spread joy through music.”
She added, “I would like to thank the organisers for giving me the opportunity to perform in Chattogram for the first time. There is another thing I must mention. At one point, I learned music from respected ustad Suman Barua. He is ill. I am also happy to think that I will get the opportunity to visit him.”
A few days ago, Mitali released her original song ‘Chokhete Chokh’. She received a positive response from listeners after its release. The lyrics and tune of the song were written and composed by Ovi Moinuddin.
Mitali performs folk, modern and Hindi songs. However, she is now planning to focus more on releasing original songs. At the same time, she has been receiving training in classical music for a long time. Mitali has been learning classical music from Bipradas Bhattacharya for more than six years. She has also received training in music from Pandit Balaram Das, Suman Barua, Rana Sinha and Himadri Biswas.
Mitali has also completed various courses at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy and Shilpakala Academy. Her mother, Chhaya Das, has provided the greatest support behind her musical journey. She accompanies her daughter at every stage show. According to Mitali, she would not have been able to reach where she is today without her mother’s constant support and presence.
