Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday that Ukraine had carried out strikes on two oil refineries inside Russia.
In a post on social media, Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s Defence Forces targeted the Slavneft-Yanos refinery in Yaroslavl and the Bashneft-Novoil refinery in Russia’s Bashkortostan region, reports BBC.
Earlier reports said thick black smoke billowed from the Yaroslavl refinery after Ukrainian drone strikes hit the area.
Yaroslavl Governor Mikhail Evraev said Russian forces had destroyed the Ukrainian drones targeting the region.
However, he added that falling debris from the intercepted drones set three houses on fire.
Zelenskyy also said Ukrainian forces struck two Russian military patrol boats and vessels associated with Russia’s so-called shadow fleet in the Black Sea.
