The government has initiated multifaceted measures to enhance the skills and ensure the employment of Madrasa students, University Grants Commission (UGC) member Professor Abdullah-al-Mamun said on Tuesday.
Speaking as the chief guest at a programme titled “July Martyrs’ Day-2026 Celebration” at International Mother Language Institute, Mamun urged students to become entrepreneurs rather than job seekers.
He described the necessity of engaging in information technology, digital skills, research, and innovation.
Mamun announced that the UGC will soon host a workshop featuring Madrasa principals, students, and education experts to draft a realistic roadmap for improving educational quality and career-oriented learning.
He highlighted the importance of ensuring the participation of female students and female heads of institutions in this initiative.
To build a “post-July Bangladesh,” the government is implementing various skill development programmes, including third language learning, soft skills, internships, and entrepreneurship development.
He further said that the recruitment process for long-vacant positions at Islamic Arabic University (IAU) has been expedited.
Presided over by IAU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Mohammad Shahidul Islam, the event was also addressed by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Abu Jafar Khan.
The VC said the sacrifices of the July mass uprising inspire the creation of a discrimination-free, democratic, and humane nation. He added that the university is working to equip students with modern knowledge, ethical values, and IT skills.
Other speakers included IAU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Mohammad Elias Siddiqui, Treasurer Shahinul Islam, and Director of International Mother Language Institute Professor Md Asaduzzaman. The university’s registrar, exam controller, and deans were also in attendance.
