Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain granted a five-day remand for Riazul Hasan and a four-day remand for Al Amin Mahin following a petition by the investigating officer. State counsel Muhammad Shamsuddoha Suman confirmed the court order.

Police said Al Amin was arrested in Dhaka, while Riazul was detained from Munshiganj on Monday night.

According to the case statement, Billal Hossain Talukder, former Ramna Thana convener of Swechchhasebak Dal, was called to the Anarkali Market area in Mouchak on Monday evening under the pretext of an arbitration meeting.

He was later attacked near the lift and staircase area of the market.

The complaint states that the attackers beat him with hockey sticks, leaving him critically injured. At one point, Riazul allegedly stabbed him in the chest while he was pinned down. Billal’s nephew, Mobarak Hossain Akash, was also injured in the attack.

Billal was first taken to a private hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 9:45 pm.

Following the incident, Billal’s wife, Ambia Khatun, filed a murder case with Ramna Model Police Station on Tuesday, naming 21 individuals and accusing seven to eight unidentified persons.

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that longstanding disputes over extortion, shop allocations, and business control in the Anarkali Market area may have contributed to the killing.
