Bangladesh Coast Guard members arrested two suspected drug traffickers and seized 50,000 Yaba tablets worth an estimated Tk2.5 crore in Teknaf on Sunday.
Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer Lt Commander Siyam-ul-Haq confirmed the matter in the afternoon.
He said members of Coast Guard Outpost Shahpori conducted a special operation in the Naf River around 11am.
During the drive, the team searched a suspicious wooden boat near the Noyapara area under Teknaf Police Station.
Upon searching the vessel, officials recovered 50,000 pieces of Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of Tk2.5 crore and detained two individuals onboard.
Legal proceedings against the detainees are underway and the seized contraband has been handed over for further action, he said.
He added that the Coast Guard will continue such operations to prevent drug trafficking in the region.
