Three members of the same family, including an infant, were killed after being run over by a truck in Lalmonirhat on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred around 7:30am near Mirzarkot Model Mosque in Patgram municipality. Another family member was injured.
The deceased were Shafiqul Islam of Dinajpur’s Hakimpur, his wife, and their eight‑month‑old daughter. Their son, injured in the crash, was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
The names of the other victims were not immediately available.
Shafiqul worked as a field officer for the NGO Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) in Patgram, where he lived with his family.
Police and locals said the family was traveling home on a motorcycle for the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday when a goods‑laden truck from Burimari rammed them from behind. Shafiqul, his wife, and their baby died on the spot.
Patgram Police Station’s Officer‑in‑charge Nazmul Haque confirmed that the bodies have been recovered and relatives informed.
Efforts are underway to identify the truck involved, and legal action will follow once the victims’ relatives arrive.
