A Dhaka court on Thursday imposed a travel ban on former Member of Parliament (MP) from Dinajpur-3 constituency, Iqbalur Rahim and his wife Nadira Sultana Mukti over graft allegations.
Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court passed the orders, allowing two separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the ACC applications, Iqbalur Rahim owns 5.0588 acres of land in Dinajpur, a plot under Vatara Police Station, 5 kathas of land in Uttara and a 2,375-square-foot flat in Dhanmondi.
In addition, instructions have been given to freeze eight bank accounts.
The case investigation alleges that the accused may transfer or sell their movable and immovable assets. It also states that an inquiry is under way into allegations that they possess wealth disproportionate to their known income.
