The eleventh edition of Leathertech Bangladesh, the country’s largest technology tradeshow for the leather and footwear industry, will open on 4 December at the Expo Village of the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.
Organiser ASK Trade and Exhibitions said the three-day exhibition will showcase finished leather, footwear machinery, shoe components, chemicals and accessories from leading international suppliers.
Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun will inaugurate the event as chief guest.
Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) President Syed Nasim Manzur will attend as special guest.
Industry representatives from China, India and Pakistan are expected to join the opening ceremony.
ASK Trade and Exhibitions Managing Director Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan said this year’s edition will feature pavilions from the Council for Leather Exports India, Pakistan Tanners Association, India Footwear Components Manufacturers Association, Confederation of Indian Footwear Industries and the Guangdong Shoe-Making Machinery Association of China.
He said nearly two hundred exhibitors from eight countries will participate, with LFMEAB providing lead support.
Leathertech Bangladesh began more than a decade ago to connect Bangladeshi manufacturers with advanced global technologies in footwear, travel goods and allied industries.
The platform has grown into a major networking hub, helping factories access modern machinery and supporting the emergence of new entrepreneurs.
Bangladesh’s leather and footwear sector remains the country’s second-largest export earner after ready-made garments.
The industry contributes around three percent of global leather goods supply and meets nearly ten percent of global leather demand.
It has been prioritised for export diversification under the Industry Policy 2022 due to competitive labour, local raw materials and targeted policy incentives.
Export Promotion Bureau data show the sector posted 9.7% year-on-year growth in October FY25–26, reaching $591.5 million compared with $539.4 million a year earlier.
Leather and leather product shipments remain the strongest performers, while footwear exports show signs of stabilisation after recent fluctuations.
Organisers said the technologies, materials and accessories on display will support factories seeking to expand capacity, diversify product lines or enter the sector.
They said the tradeshow has helped domestic firms upgrade technology and strengthen Bangladesh’s position as a global sourcing destination.
The exhibition will remain open from 11am to 7pm daily with free entry for business visitors.
