Police have arrested Mobarak Hossain Imon alias David Imon, a follower of top criminal Borro Sajjad, from a luxury hotel in Dhaka’s Gulshan area.
He was arrested around 10:30pm Monday from the Amari Dhaka hotel in Gulshan‑2, said Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali.
Police said Imon’s home is in Kanchannagar, Fatikchhari, Chattogram. Though his Facebook ID “David Imon” claimed he was living abroad, he had long been under surveillance.
He is a named accused in seven cases, including the double murder in Baklia on 30 March 2025 and the killing of criminal “Dhakaiya Akbar” at Patenga beach on 23 May the same year.
Investigators said Imon is highly skilled in using firearms, with clear evidence of involvement in carrying weapons and criminal activities. In the Baklia double murder, he arranged both the shooter and the motorcycle.
