Readymade garment workers blocked several roads in Dhaka’s Mirpur area on Saturday, demanding a minimum monthly salary of Tk30,000 and causing severe traffic congestion in the area.
Several hundred workers from different garment factories took to the streets in the morning, bringing vehicular movement to a halt.
Workers from most garment factories in Mirpur joined the demonstration.
Almost all of the protesters were carrying sticks. They also blocked the Mirpur-10 intersection.
