Tom Holland has confirmed that he and Zendaya are married, months after AI-generated wedding photographs fuelled widespread speculation across social media.
Speaking to Esquire magazine, Holland revealed that even members of his own family had been momentarily caught off guard by the viral images. He said his grandmother saw the photographs and believed she had missed the wedding.
When asked whether he had to reassure other relatives, Holland said, “No, because they were all there.” He declined to provide any further details, adding, “That’s all you’ll get on that.”
Holland also spoke candidly about his relationship with Zendaya, describing it as a source of stability amid the pressures of life in the public eye.
“Our business can present very stressful situations and it’s really nice to have a bedrock of a relationship that will stand the test of time,” he said. Holland added that their shared experiences in the entertainment industry allow them to support one another in ways few others can.
“For me, I found my person. She’s my best friend, and I’m the happiest I have ever been when I’m with her,” he said.
Rumours surrounding the couple intensified earlier this year after Zendaya was seen wearing a diamond ring on the fourth finger of her left hand at the 2025 Golden Globes, traditionally associated with engagement rings. The speculation grew further when Holland referred to Zendaya as his “fiancée” during a public appearance.
The AI-generated wedding images began circulating widely after stylist Law Roach told Access Hollywood at the 2026 Actor Awards that “the wedding has already happened” and that the public had “missed it”.
The images depicted Holland and Zendaya exchanging vows against a backdrop resembling Lake Como. Additional AI-created photographs appeared to show guests including Robert Downey Jr., Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Jake Gyllenhaal.
One social media post featuring the images received more than 100,000 likes, while an Instagram collection of AI-generated wedding photographs reportedly surpassed 10 million likes. Although captions identified the pictures as AI-created “artistic recreations”, many users appeared to mistake them for genuine photographs.
The couple first met while working on ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. Reflecting on Zendaya’s audition, Holland praised her performance and said she secured the role almost immediately.
Holland is next set to appear in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which is scheduled for release later this year.
