BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said a section is spreading propaganda to mislead voters but will fail to gain public support, describing them as anti-liberation forces and calling for resistance against them.
He made the remarks while addressing a public rally organised by the BNP’s Sylhet district and metropolitan units, along with the Sunamganj district unit, in connection with the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Mirza Fakhrul said that people have endured killings and enforced disappearances over the past 15 years in the fight for democracy but have not bowed down.
He described BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman’s ongoing political movement as the beginning of a “new Bangladesh”.
The party’s first election rally formally began at 10:50am with recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by speeches from local BNP leaders.
