Bangladeshi industrial conglomerate Epyllion Group and fashion and lifestyle brand Sailor have come together as official sponsors of Bangladesh’s men’s and women’s Under-18 hockey teams ahead of the Asia Cup Hockey tournament in Japan, committing a combined Tk 1 crore to the Bangladesh Hockey Federation to cover the full cost of the campaign.
A formal memorandum of understanding was signed between the Bangladesh Hockey Federation and the two organisations to formalise the partnership, which will support both teams equally across every aspect of their participation in the tournament, scheduled to run from 29 May to 6 June in Japan.
The Tk 1 crore contribution will meet all tournament-related expenses for the players, including international and domestic travel, accommodation, meals, team kits, uniforms and necessary equipment, as well as training preparations and other associated costs in the build-up to the competition.
As part of the sponsorship agreement, the logos of both Sailor and Epyllion Group will feature prominently on the front of the Bangladesh Under-18 teams’ match jerseys, practice jerseys, trousers, travel polos and T-shirts. The partnership branding will also appear on banners, backdrops and across social media platforms.
Speaking about the sponsorship, Sailor’s Chief Executive Officer Md Rezaul Kabir framed the investment as a statement of intent rather than simply a financial arrangement.
“We are proud to stand beside the Bangladesh Under-18 men’s and women’s hockey teams as they prepare to represent the country on the international stage,” he said. “Epyllion Group and Sailor have always believed in encouraging promising young talents. This sponsorship is not just financial support. It reflects our commitment to the future of sports in Bangladesh.”
Lt Col Riazul Hasan, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation, was equally warm in his response, expressing sincere gratitude to both organisations for stepping forward at a critical time in the teams’ preparation.
“Their support will play a vital role in the team’s preparation, participation and performance at the international level,” he said.
