Bangladesh women’s cricket team will play two official warm-up matches ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England, the International Cricket Council has confirmed. The fixtures, against New Zealand on 6 June and Ireland on 9 June, will both be held in Loughborough and form part of a broader preparation window running from 6 to 10 June across all participating nations.
The Women’s T20 World Cup itself begins on 12 June in England.
Bangladesh’s first warm-up match sees Nigar Sultana Jyoti’s side take on New Zealand in Loughborough at 3pm local time on 6 June. Three days later, on 9 June, they return to the same venue to face Ireland. Both fixtures will provide valuable match practice ahead of the tournament proper.
Before travelling to England, Bangladesh will also compete in a preparatory series in Scotland against Scotland and the Netherlands, giving the squad additional game time and the chance to settle into English conditions gradually.
Bangladesh have been placed in Group A of the 12-team tournament alongside India, Australia, the Netherlands, South Africa and Pakistan, a formidable group that will test the Tigresses at every turn.
Their World Cup campaign opens against the Netherlands on 14 June before they face Australia on 17 June, Pakistan on 20 June, India on 25 June and South Africa on 28 June to round off the group stage.
