The family of Rehan, one of the three suspects arrested over the shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, has spoken out, with his mother claiming he was lured into the alleged crime while his father says he has had no contact with his son for years, reports Times of India.
Rehan’s mother, Shamshida, told reporters that she believed someone had manipulated her son and drawn him into the incident. She claimed a man arrived at their home in a vehicle and took him away, adding that she had been unable to contact him for around 20 days because his phone was switched off.
According to Shamshida, Rehan had been learning welding in Gurugram after leaving his studies to help support the family. She alleged that a man from Bihar had promised him better earnings by offering to arrange work with his brother.
She also suspected that her son might have been given an intoxicating substance before being taken away, although the allegation has not been independently confirmed. Shamshida said she did not know the person who allegedly took him and urged her son not to be influenced by others.
Rehan’s father, Raisuddin, meanwhile, told reporters that he had not been in contact with his son for around 10 to 12 years. He said Rehan had been living with his mother and that he was unaware of his son’s recent activities.
Raisuddin also revealed that Rehan had previously faced a case involving an illegal firearm and had been released on bail. He said the law should determine the punishment if his son is found guilty.
The three suspects, including Rehan, were arrested from a train in Kota, Rajasthan, on 19 October, a day after shots were fired at Tiger’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The actor escaped largely unharmed, while his driver and a bystander were reportedly injured.
The investigation into the shooting is continuing, and the allegations against the suspects have yet to be established in court.
