Three women from same family died on Thursday after a trolley overturned and fell into the Titas River in Titas Upazila of Comilla.
The accident occurred around noon on the Karikandi–Rajapur road, Titas Police Station officer-in-charge Khaled Saifullah confirmed.
The victims were identified as Rina Akter, 35, Ruzina Akter, 30 and Shamsun Nahar, 40.
According to locals, the three women were bathing in the river when an empty trolley travelling from Rajapur towards Karikandi Bazar lost control and overturned into the river, landing directly on them.
Rina and Ruzina died on the spot. Shamsun Nahar was rescued in critical condition and taken to Titas Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.
OC Khaled Saifullah said a fire service team was continuing operations to ensure no one else was trapped in the water.
