A burglary took place at the residence of actress Yamin Haque Bobby in Dhaka’s Senpara Parbata area under Kafrul Police Station on Tuesday. A case has been filed against unidentified individuals, police said.
Rubel Mallik, investigation officer of Kafrul Police Station, confirmed the matter and said legal action had been initiated. He added that police are investigating the incident and necessary measures will be taken.
According to police and family sources, Bobby left her residence on May 25 for a shooting assignment. On Tuesday night, her housemaid, Lucky, informed her over the phone about the burglary.
After returning home, the actress found one of the three wardrobes in her bedroom open. She also noticed that the window and two balcony grills had been cut.
Later, she discovered that a large quantity of gold ornaments, cash, and other valuables had been stolen from the apartment. The stolen items reportedly include five pairs of gold bangles, seven pairs of gold earrings, three gold necklaces, eight gold lockets, 12 gold chains, seven diamond nose pins, five branded wristwatches, and Tk 600,000 in cash.
The estimated value of the stolen property is around Tk 8.57 million.
Speaking about the incident, Bobby said her mother is currently in Saudi Arabia for Hajj, while her sisters live in Australia. She was away for a film shoot when the burglary occurred. After being informed, she returned home and immediately contacted law enforcement agencies, who assured her that swift action would be taken.
