A Dhaka court has deferred the date for recording testimony to 5 January in a case filed against Azmina Siddiq, daughter of Sheikh Rehana, over alleged corruption in plot allocation under Rajuk’s Purbachal New Town project.
Although testimony from the investigation officer was scheduled for Sunday, it could not be taken as the court was occupied with another case. Later, Judge Md Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-4 set the date for recording testimony.
In the case by the Anti-Corruption Commission, deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana’s two daughters Azmina and Tulip Rezwana Siddiq and 18 others have been made accused.
Other accused include Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md Shahid Ullah Khondaker; Additional Secretary (Administration) Kazi Wasi Uddin; Administrative Officer Md Saiful Islam Sarkar; Senior Assistant Secretary Purabi Goldar; former Rajuk Chairman Md Anichur Rahman Miah; former Member (Estate and Land) Mohammad Khurshid Alam; Member (Administration and Finance) Kabir Al Asad; Member (Development Control) Tanmoy Das; Member (Estate and Land) Md Nurul Islam; former member (Planning) Mohammad Nasir Uddin; former Member Major (Engineer) Samsuddin Ahmed Chowdhury (Retd); Director (Estate and Land-2) Sheikh Shahinul Islam; Deputy Director Md Hafizur Rahman; Habibur Rahman; former state minister Sharif Ahmed; and former prime minister’s principal secretary Salauddin.
