TECNO has introduced EllaClaw, an experimental agentic AI assistant currently in beta development.

Beta development is when a feature-complete product is released to a limited group of external users to test under real-world conditions before its official public launch.

The system combines TECNO’s existing Ella assistant with the OpenClaw framework, shifting the assistant from question-and-answer interaction towards completing tasks on the user’s behalf, said a press release on Tuesday.

Unlike a conventional chatbot, EllaClaw is being built to understand context, learn user preferences and take approved actions across the phone. TECNO says the assistant is powered by more than ‘40 Smart Skills’. These include identifying apps consuming excessive battery or data, cleaning RAM and CPU resources, and reducing background activity to support smoother device performance. Important changes still require user approval, leaving the user in control of the actions taken.

EllaClaw’s Cross-app Automation feature allows the assistant to coordinate actions across multiple applications. With user permission, it can complete tasks including shopping, booking transportation, ordering food and managing smart home applications step by step. A single voice or text instruction can trigger a sequence- booking a ride through a ride-sharing app, ordering food online or purchasing a product- with the process remaining visible to the user throughout so each step can be monitored and controlled.
