BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman warned on Sunday that the “sinister efforts of evil forces” to undermine the upcoming parliamentary elections are becoming increasingly apparent.
“Nearly a year ago, I mentioned that unseen forces were at play, focusing on the upcoming elections. Now, it is evident to the public that these malevolent forces are actively working to prevent the people of Bangladesh from exercising their democratic rights through elections,” he stated during a virtual discussion.
The event, titled “Purpose and Significance of the BNP’s Establishment,” took place at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka, celebrating the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
Tarique emphasised that while the interim government is striving to protect the rights of the people in a Bangladesh free from autocratic rule, some political parties are setting conditions in the name of elections to further their own interests.
“Such actions may be part of a deliberate effort to create barriers to the election process,” he added.
