BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman has arrived at Evercare Hospital from the rally venue to see his mother, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Prior to this, he arrived at the public reception stage in the capital’s Purbachal area around 3:50pm on Thursday. He then delivered a brief speech before setting off for Evercare Hospital.
In his brief remarks, he said the country’s peace and order must be maintained at any cost.
He said, “The country’s peace and order must be maintained at any cost. We want peace, we want peace, we want peace – we must all work together in unity. We must not succumb to anyone’s provocation.”
“I want to tell you, I have a plan. I want to implement this plan.”
Earlier on Thursday, the plane carrying Tarique Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:40am.
On 19 December, her physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain said that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s health remains critical, although she is responding to treatment.
The BNP chairperson was admitted to the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on 23 November. Tests conducted three days later revealed a lung infection, after which she was moved to the Critical Care Unit on 27 November.
A medical board was formed with local and foreign physicians under the leadership of Professor Shahabuddin Talukder. Specialist doctors from two teams from China and the United Kingdom have joined the medical board.
Khaleda’s treatment is being carried out following advice of the board.
Wife of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Zubaida Rahman, arrived in Dhaka from London on 5 December to see her mother-in-law’s before leaving again on 20 December.
According to Dr Zahid, Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman are constantly supervising Khaleda Zia’s treatment.
