Detectives have arrested Tanim Reza alias Bappi, the suspected controller of an arms cache linked to listed criminal Subrata Bain.
The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested him during a raid in Kamalapur around 8pm Friday, later handing him over to Motijheel police.
Police said Bappi has long operated as a close associate of Bain, a top criminal listed by both Interpol and the DMP and is widely regarded as a key controller of Bain’s illegal arsenal.
He faces at least seven cases filed at different Dhaka police stations, including charges of attempted murder, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act. Allegations also tie him to violent clashes, shootings, and extortion linked to leasing sacrificial cattle markets.
Motijheel Police Station Officer‑in‑charge Md Kamruzzaman Talukder confirmed the arrest.
