Khadija Yasmin, daughter of top criminal Subrata Bain, has been shown arrested in a case filed over an attempt to murder a man during the July mass uprising at Vatara Police Station in Dhaka.
State Counsel Muhammad Shamsuzzoha Suman confirmed she was shown arrested as a suspect in the case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Ehsanul Islam passed the order after Hasanuzzaman, sub‑inspector of Vatara Police Station and investigation officer of the case, produced Khadija and prayed for the order.
According to the petition, Md Sajib Khan joined the anti‑discrimination student movement at Vatara’s New Bazar Bridge area on 19 July 2024. He was injured during attacks on protesters.
Khadija, along with other accused, was allegedly present at the scene and involved in firing shots, throwing cocktails and petrol bombs, and other acts of sabotage. Several people, including the complainant, were shot during the incident.
Police said preliminary evidence was found of Khadija’s involvement in the violence.
The petition stated that if Khadija were released on bail, they could abscond and obstruct the investigation. Therefore, for the sake of proper investigation and justice, it is essential to show the suspect arrested in the case and keep her in jail custody.
On 14 March last year, Sajib filed the case with Vatara Police Station. Later Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Khadija from Cumilla. She was later handed over to Detective Police (DB) of police.
Bangladesh Army, in a special operation on 27 May 2025, arrested four criminals including Subrata Bain and Molla Masud and seized five foreign-made pistols and ammunition.
