After a sustained rally, the stock market lost some momentum on Monday, with profit-booking selloffs slowing the market’s upward trajectory.

The DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, dropped 8.6 points, closing at 5,628 points, down from 5,636 points in the previous session.

The market remained mildly volatile throughout the day, with active investor participation on both sides of the trading fence, said EBL Securities in its post-closing market commentary.

However, sellers dominated in the late session as cautious investors opted to lock in recent gains and monitor the market’s trend, it added.

Despite the pullback, investor participation remained strong, with market turnover decreasing slightly by 2.8 per cent to Tk14.0 billion.
