Bangladesh will not send a team to the upcoming T20 World Cup in India, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced today. The move comes amid tensions over what officials describe as the Indian board’s aggressive communal policies.
Asif Nazrul, adviser for youth and sports, welcomed the decision, calling it the right response. “I welcome this decision in light of the aggressive communal policies of the Indian cricket board,” he said on Facebook.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision follows a series of events that have strained cricketing relations between the two countries, including the controversial exclusion of Mustafizur Rahman from the Indian Premier League. The board is expected to issue a formal statement clarifying its position in the coming hours.
