The government is set to introduce a range of special facilities for “Expatriate Card” holders, including discounts on air tickets and airport lounge access.
The announcement was made during an orientation meeting held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism conference room to brief airport-related organisations on the distribution and implementation of the cards. Afroza Khanam, minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, presided over the session.
The meeting was also attended by Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat, and State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Md Nurul Hoque.
Khanam mentioned that a policy decision has been reached to provide special discounts on Biman Bangladesh Airlines tickets and for the use of the Balaka Lounge.
“We have taken initiatives to ensure all types of facilities for our expatriate brothers,” she said, noting that a shuttle bus service has already been launched at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to assist passengers.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring harassment-free aviation services for expatriates.
Millat added that the authorities are considering special discounts for expatriates at Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation hotels and motels. The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism will arrange Priority Check-in and Boarding facilities for cardholders.
These benefits will be accessible through the current government’s Expatriate Card.
At the start of the proceedings, Ariful presented various areas of cooperation to Civil Aviation Ministry to facilitate the implementation of Expatriate Card, which is a key component of the government’s election manifesto.
Senior officials from Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, and their respective subordinate agencies were present at the meeting.
