Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad returned home early Thursday after a brief official visit to Qatar.
He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 3am.
During the trip, he handed over Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s condolence message to the Emir of Qatar on the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, father of the incumbent Emir.
Hafiz Uddin Ahmad reached Doha on 14 July to convey Bangladesh’s deep condolences over Sheikh Hamad’s demise. He expressed sympathies on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh to the Emir and the bereaved royal family, and prayed for eternal peace and forgiveness for the departed soul.
After delivering the condolence message, the Speaker met Hassan bin Abdullah al‑Ghanim, Speaker of the Qatari Shura Council.
