Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad departed Dhaka for Qatar on Tuesday to convey condolences on behalf of the Bangladesh government following the death of Qatar’s former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The aircraft carrying the Speaker left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Doha at about 11:30am.
During the visit, he is scheduled to hold a courtesy meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
He will also express condolences on behalf of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to honor Sheikh Hamad, widely regarded as the architect of modern Qatar.
The Speaker is expected to return to Bangladesh on 16 July after completing the Qatar trip.
