XREAL AURA is an upcoming pair of smart glasses that promises to bring augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and Android apps into a form factor that looks remarkably like everyday eyewear. Unlike traditional VR headsets, which immerse users in a fully digital environment, AURA employs optical see-through technology, allowing users to view the real world directly while digital content is projected above it.
XREAL anticipates that AURA will be available in Fall 2026 at a maximum retail price of $1,500 (excluding tax). In Bangladesh, this would currently translate to approximately Tk1.85 lakh, though the actual cost may be significantly higher once taxes, customs duties, and retailer margins are factored in. XREAL has not yet announced an official retail price for the Bangladeshi market.
The 70-degree field of view is the centrepiece of AURA, which XREAL describes as its largest optical-see-through display to date. The glasses feature X Prism optics and Sony Micro-OLED screens delivering up to 1,920 x 1,200 pixels per eye at a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. A five-level electrochromic dimming system allows users to adjust transparency according to their surroundings.
AURA employs a dual-chip, split-compute architecture. The glasses themselves feature XREAL’s X1S Spatial Coprocessor, which enables low-latency spatial display and sensor processing. A separate pocket-sized compute puck, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform, handles more advanced computing tasks. This design removes much of the processing from the glasses themselves, helping balance performance, heat management, and wearer comfort.
The compute puck runs on Android XR, Google’s operating system for extended-reality devices, and is available in two configurations: 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, and 16GB RAM with 512GB storage. It includes a 4,455mAh (34.84Wh) battery, Wi-Fi 6/6E, and Bluetooth 5.3. Two USB-C ports allow for glasses connection, DisplayPort input, and charging at up to 65W. The DisplayPort input enables connection to computers, laptops, or handheld gaming devices.
A significant aspect of AURA is its AI capabilities. Google Gemini, integrated with Android XR, offers voice and multimodal support, including the ability to explain what users see and enable interaction with the environment when given permission. This positions AURA as a potentially valuable tool for navigation, learning, productivity, and general assistance.
The glasses feature a pair of outward-facing tracking cameras, 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) spatial anchoring, hand tracking, and a high-resolution camera with a privacy LED indicator. Audio is tuned by Bose, featuring a four-microphone array and Android XR spatial audio. AURA comes in two IPD (interpupillary distance) sizes: M (60–66mm) and L (66–72mm), and accepts prescription lens inserts.
XREAL says AURA will provide access to millions of Android apps via Google Play, alongside over 100 applications specifically tailored for XR. The company describes the glasses as a private cinema, a spatial workspace, a creative canvas, and an AI-powered companion.
XREAL AURA represents a significant step toward spatial computing, moving beyond traditional screens and into the world around the user. By combining optical-see-through AR, Android XR, Gemini AI, spatial tracking, and a dedicated compute puck, XREAL aims to make advanced XR technology more comfortable and accessible than conventional headsets.
For buyers in Bangladesh, the converted price of approximately Tk1,85,000 (before taxes and import duties) places AURA firmly in the premium category. Yet, if the device delivers on its promises, it may offer a valuable glimpse into the future of computing, one where digital content is no longer confined to screens, but integrated seamlessly into the world we see every day.
