Sonali Bank PLC observed World Whistleblower Day 2026 with a seminar at its head office conference room on Tuesday, bringing together senior banking executives, regulators and government officials to mark the occasion.
The event formed part of the state-owned bank’s observance of Whistleblower Day and highlighted issues related to institutional accountability and governance, the bank said in a press release.
Muhammad Masrurul Islam, Ombudsman of the Sonali Bank PLC Ombudsman Secretariat, attended the seminar, while Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Md Shawkat Ali Khan presided over the programme.
Among the guests were Sonali Bank directors Molla Abdul Wadud, Mohammed Jahangir Husain and Md Mofazzal Husain; Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Md Rafiqul Islam; and Afroza Akter Riba, Deputy Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division.
Deputy Managing Directors, General Managers, executives and other officials of the bank also attended the event.
The seminar was organised as part of Sonali Bank’s activities marking World Whistleblower Day 2026 and brought together representatives from the banking sector, the central bank and government institutions.
The bank said in a press release that the observance was held through a range of activities, including the seminar at its head office in Dhaka.
