Dhallywood is preparing to welcome audiences this Durga Puja with three films exploring family relationships, power struggles and campus nostalgia. Sneher Bondhon, Cutpiece and Chirkut are set to offer different stories during the festive season.
Sneher Bondhon
Directed by Kamruzzaman, Sneher Bondhon features Joy Chowdhury and Mou Khan in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on October 16.
Confirming the release date, Joy Chowdhury, general secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association, said the team had chosen the Puja holidays to bring the film to cinemas.
He acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding box-office success, noting that releasing a film outside Eid has become a challenging decision for producers.
Cutpiece
Directed and produced by Iffat Jahan Momo, Cutpiece delves into the business of garment-factory fabric waste, highlighting the money, influence and rivalries surrounding the trade. The story also explores family ties and emotional conflicts.
An item song from the film has already been released. The cast includes Shifat Amin Shuvo, Rafah Nanjeba Torsa, Imran Ahmed Saudagar, Bappi Ashraf, Saiful Kabir and Elina Shammi.
Chirkut
Directed by Muntasir Akib, Chirkut transports viewers to Rajshahi University in the 1990s. Through its portrayal of campus life, the film explores friendship, romance, youthful aspirations and memories of a bygone era.
Shamol Mawla, Azizun Mim, Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, Sumon Patwary and several other actors feature in the film. Chirkut is scheduled to premiere on October 16 and will be screened exclusively at cineplexes and multiplexes.
With their varied themes and storytelling styles, the three films are set to compete for moviegoers’ attention during the Durga Puja festivities.
