Chartered Accountant Snehashish Barua has been appointed as an independent director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) following approval from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Monday.
He was officially inducted at DSE’s 1,109th board meeting on Tuesday, the premier bourse said in a press release.
Barua brings extensive experience in financial management, corporate finance, auditing, corporate governance, taxation, and risk management.
He is the founding partner of Snehashish Mahmood & Co and a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).
Throughout his career, Snehashish Barua has held senior positions at leading corporate and financial institutions, including Saiful Shamsul Alam & Co, Rahman Rahman Huq, and internal audit management roles at Grameenphone and Robi Axiata.
His expertise spans IFRS, corporate governance, transfer pricing, and the telecommunications and energy sectors.
In addition to his corporate experience, Snehashish Barua is actively involved in professional education and policy development.
He serves as a faculty member at ICAB, an approved tutor at ICMAB, and has contributed to training programmes for institutions like Bangladesh Bank, DSE, and Dhaka University.
DSE Chairman Mominul Islam welcomed Barua to the board, noting, “Snehashish Barua’s experience in finance, auditing, and corporate leadership will play a pivotal role in advancing DSE’s operations and strengthening market governance in Bangladesh.”
