Bangladeshi model, actor and dancer Sinthia Yasmin is set for her final performance of Mohua Pala in France, where she has been representing Bangladesh through the country’s rich folk heritage.
Sinthia has been performing as Mohua at the Festival de Sud, which has been held in different regions of France since 2 August. A Bangladeshi troupe has represented the country at the folk dance festival from its opening day, alongside dancers and musicians from various countries.
The festival’s Mohua Pala performances have showcased Bangladesh’s folk culture, with Sinthia’s acting and dance as Mohua earning praise from audiences.
The final staging will take place in the Vic-sur-Cère region on 15 August. Sinthia has already performed as Mohua at several events across France and said the experience would remain a lifelong memory. If everything goes as planned, she will return to Bangladesh on 17 August after the final show.
Speaking about the festival, Sinthia said the events across France had created a unique connection between the people of the two countries.
“Representing Bangladesh abroad fills me with immense joy and pride. It is difficult to put that feeling into words,” she said. “The story of Mohua, built around the love, pain and emotions of Bengal’s land and people, has touched foreign audiences. Their enthusiasm, affection and warmth have inspired all of us.”
She added that the festival demonstrated how culture can build bridges among people across the world.
Wasek Mottakinur Rahman is directing the dance drama. Music is being performed by Md Fakhrul Hasan Sohel, Jyoti Jyotsna and others.
Sinthia completed her master’s in accounting under the National University with first-class results. She previously completed her HSC from Dhaka Commerce College. Recently, she received the Nrityakala Sammanona 2026 as Best Dancer from Nrityangan.
