Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan’s explosive 26 off just nine balls was not enough to keep the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons alive in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, as they were knocked out by Trinbago Knight Riders in the Eliminator on Tuesday.
Shakib’s cameo, which included one six and four fours, gave the Falcons a much-needed late boost after solid contributions from Amir Jangoo (55) and Andries Gous (61) had set up a total of 166 for eight.
However, the target proved insufficient against the firepower of Trinbago. The three-time champions chased down the total with ease in 17.3 overs, losing just one wicket. Nicholas Pooran led the way with a commanding unbeaten 90, while Alex Hales supported him with 54 not out.
Shakib, who also bowled three overs, conceded 24 runs without taking a wicket as Trinbago booked their place in the next stage of the tournament.
